Notification of recent enforcement against an activity provider |
We have been recently made aware that a Local Authority has served an enforcement notice under the Adventure Activities Licensing Regulations against an activity provider offering licensable activities to children without a valid licence
We recommend that all paddlesport activity providers should review their activities to check whether any may be in scope of the AALA regulations and ensure they have obtained a relevant licence before provision takes place.

Research into the ‘Evaluation of Decision-Making of Adventure Sports Leaders by Expert Adventure Sports Coaches’.
|
Are you a coach with over eight years of active experience since gaining your advanced qualification, with a minimum of 5 years experience training, and assessing advanced coaching and leadership adventure sports qualifications and awards?
Can you spare approximately 60 minutes to take part in a research project, enabling further insight for British Canoeing to understand decision making in the Adventure Sports setting?
Given the importance of decision-making in the leadership and coaching of adventure sports, we hope to develop a way to evaluate decision-making consistently and reliably. In this initial part of our study, we would like to understand how expert assessors are currently evaluating the decision-making of candidates undertaking awards in the most challenging environments.

CE marking to continue indefinitely beyond December 2024 |
Update for all instructors, coaches and leaders that the Government intends to extend recognition of the CE marking for placing most goods on the market in Great Britain, indefinitely, beyond December 2024. CE marking applies to recreational craft and personal watercraft and so it will be important to continue to look for CE markings for paddlesport items, including helmets (CE - 1385) and buoyancy aids (at least 50 N).

Guidance from the government on concussion can be summed up as: if in doubt, sit them out. It’s a clear and simple directive that puts the welfare of each participant at the very heart of coaching practice.
This page contains resources, eLearning, and a webinar that can help you understand and apply the government guidance on concussion to identify, manage, and prevent concussions, including how to create a safe and supported environment for participation.
